It may be the product of chaotic times, but I’m developing quite a fondness of small seascape watercolors, and think they would be a really wonderful thing to build a collection of and hang salon style as a grouping. I’ve been finding especially lovely ones of the English Coast, as is this one. Early 20th century I believe and rendered in soft grays and browns, with loose wash for the sky and a subtle hint perhaps of blue sky emerging through clouds. To me, it completely evokes the sound of softly crashing waves in the distance, almost as good as being there!
