I presume this antique cast iron half-sphere was made to hang straight down via its four perimeter holes. With traces of orange-gold paint still holding on, it feels to me as if it might have lived in a holy space, but I really have no idea. Whatever the case, it appears quite old, and I just find the domed form, with scalloped pattern around the edge and fourteen ribs running to the top, just a satisfying thing.
4 7/16" d x 3" t. Very good antique condition, with a beautiful patina to the iron.
