This is a beautiful pair of vintage hand-painted Australian Aboriginal clap sticks. Clapsticks or "clappers" are used to maintain rhythm in Aboriginal voice chants. I really love these as three-dimensional paintings, and also as wonderful objects to hold in the hands. Plus, they make a terrific clap when struck together! The level of detail on this pair, as well as their long, thin forms, makes them as fine as any I've seen.
9 1/2" long x 5/8" in diameter and in excellent condition.
