This is a wonderfully folky old hand-carved mold, for maple sugar I believe, and one which appears to have been used many many times. I fell in love with the carved teapot on it immediately--about as cozy feeling a carving as I've ever seen, made all the more so by the super warm dry patina on the wood, pine I believe. It really feels as if that spoon and kettle have existed forever, like paintings on the walls of Lascaux! Very charming.
8 1/4" x 4 5/8" x 1 1/4" (not exactly square in any direction). Lots of wear and age and marvelous patina; a little surface loss along the top right edge, but long since worn smooth and I don't think at all detracting. Wired on the back for hanging.
