This old painting on wooden plate is very weathered, but I think very sweet still, evoking a strong sense of place and imaginings of life behind those great green shattered windows! I especially love the painterly clouds of the sky, and those three pink chimneys, too! Very coziness-inducing, I think it would be great hung in a farmhouse kitchen, or maybe near the fireplace!
Mid 19th century or so New England, I'd think. 6 3/4" across. Obvious dryness and cracking as well as paint loss, but still holds together and shows nicely. Pyrographed initial J and maybe also B on the reverse.
