19th C. Calligraphic Ink Drawing of "The Dragon" on Laid Paper

Regular price $45.00

It appears this wonderful little drawing was salvaged from the manuscript notebook of a Lucy Claflen a long time ago, with "The heavens declare the glory of God" written in beautiful script on the reverse--counterpointing the lair of the dragon! Early 19th c. I believe, and what a fantastic dragon, with curled tail ending in an arrow to match its arrow of a tongue, and fabulous wings, making it seem especially poised to grab an evil-doer and carry them away. Labeled simple "the dragon" at far right.

6 7/8" l x 2 3/16" t, ink on laid paper and in good condition, with the drawing strong and clear. This one really deserves to be nicely framedI think!
