A lovely little valentine, or prayer/blessing of sorts, delivered in a very lovely embossed and watercolored four flap envelop. My German is pretty much non existent, but I've translated the beginning of the card inside to glean "oh child, God didn't give life just for this short time..." or something along these lines. The formal manner of the card, with that pretty border, resembles early rewards of merit too. Pennsylvania German I believe, signed and dated in ink Feb 8, 1849. With partial red wax seal still attached on one corner of the envelope, too.
4" x 3" and in good condition, just some general toning to the envelop.
