You may be better at deciphering the long note written in very small print on the back of this real photo postcard than I, but I can decipher the date of October, 8, 1917, and the location, Seacroft. And I can make out that the diorama captured by the photographer was the creation of the child, showing the Meccano Destroyer off to "pick the huns"--with huns, I believe, slang for Germans. Of course me its all about the diorama, with wonderfully folky boat speeding ahead, British flag waving and trails of what looks like cotton spewing from its chimneys! And then on shore a bunch of figures and horses, painted cast lead miniatures I presume, and some sort of castle or fortress, with foot bridge, behind. I love old photos of folk creations, preserving them for posterity, and the framing here makes this one seem as if viewed through a scope, lending a whole extra level of drama.
5 7/16" x 3 3/8" and in very good antique condition.
