Scarce Early Milton Bradley "Characters and Predictions" Parlor Game

Regular price $48.00

This late 19th century Milton Bradley "Characters and Predictions" parlor game is a scarce one (I can find no other out there) and a fun one. There are no instructions, so I'm not entirely sure the rules, but I think it is essentially like the popular Victorian parlor game of "Marriages and Divorces" --so here young men and women would draw character cards, read them aloud, and then a "judge" would deliver a prediction from the deck, related to their suitability for one another. These games served a courtship function--so a good match in the game might just pave the way for a good match in deed! All sorts of games one might invent to play with them now, and just reading through the cards is a treat.

Box measures 5" x 4" x 1. Wear to to the exterior of the box as evident but cards are in pristine condition. And very nice to see an advertisement for kindergarten and alphabet blocks printed on the underside of the box!
