Exceptional Froebel Kindergarten Cut Paper Designs, Reconsolidated Set, Single-sided, A-D (Sold Individually)

Regular price $30.00

The four examples of paper cuts in this group are single sided. Three are remaining from several earlier listed groups, with one added to make a grid of four. Sold individually. I'm also listing two more NEW groups of these today

When my dealer friend in Maine, from whom I purchased a pile of these gorgeous paper cuts earlier this year, let me know he had more from the same lot, I hurried up the coast to get them. (They elicit the sort of rush in me that makes "dealer" feel illicit.) These represent exceptional examples of kindergarten inventor Friedrich Froebel's (1782 - 1852) "Gift 13", paper cutting--with these pieces clearly made using Froebel's proscribed "cutting papers," which were produced in the U.S. by Milton Bradley among others. The learning focus of cut paper works was about the transformation of materials, and the project here was to use all of the pieces from the paper square from which they were cut to create the design; nothing wasted. I find the results just about as aesthetically satisfying as anything else in the world, with these pieces, representing a really fine set of examples, surely done by a kindergarten teacher, who seems to have taken great pleasure and pride in fully exploring the possibilities of the exercise.
