A c. 1870s carte de visite, of a very Lincoln-esque gentleman, who seems possibly Quaker, given his dress and the source of the cdv: the Mote Brothers, Quaker City Gallery, Richmond, Indiana. I am a bit confused about whether a photo of a painting or not--I think perhaps a photo of a photo that had been embellished with hand-painting (especially evident on neck tie and jacket.) I love it for that ambiguity, and for his great face!
4 3/16" X 2 1/2". Very good condition.
