You know I have a weakness for blocks of all sorts, especially early ones, which all but one of these Hills alphabet blocks are--in the most gorgeous old paint, clearly played with and played with and played with some more. I found most of these together in Maine as one set, though a merged one (some blocks with borders, some without, and those without having a word under each letter). And then a few days later I found a few more at an antique show in NH and added them in--making for a total of 30. With lithographed letters against painted white and red grounds and animals and numbers too, some sides worn so much as to be nothing more than a trace, which I find totally beautiful.
Blocks measure approx 1 3/4" cubed. You can see in second and third photos the full set of 30, with the "I" at upper left in the 2nd photo the newer one, and the "q" in the 3rd; seems useful to include it to have an even number, but it is of a different quality.
