A few last 19th century ink and watercolor butterfly drawings from a portfolio of half a dozen or so I purchased from a favorite dealer in the Hudson River Valley several weeks ago. This one is identified at lower left as a White Bordered Camberwell Beauty, and a beauty I think it is--less showy than some but finely and richly rendered. And with a subtle shadow rendered in ink wash along the right side. Lovely.
9 1/4" x 7 1/4" and in very good condition.
