I know from the dealer I purchased this from that it came out a house--the specific house portrayed--in Vermont, though I am forgetting the name of the town. I love a house portrait, and am fairly sure the slate this house was drawn/painted on was salvaged from the house's roof (there's some old hardened tar on the the back)--and the manner of it makes it feel less as if rendered and more as if it just magically emerged! With the framework of the house and various details scratched/incised into the stone, great interplay between the surface texture of the stone and the applied color, which has softened over time, especially around the edges, and a nice moodiness and sense of aura to the whole thing.
9 3/8" x 7 1/4" and in good condition, with a nice sense of age. Some irregularity to the shape of the slate, all to the good.
