When I spotted this one at an antiques show in MA last week, at first I thought it was made of marble (and a friend seeing it a few minutes later thought the same)--always hard to feel things from photos, but the color on the wood is rather otherworldly, and the surface, though showing cut marks all over, is worn marble-smooth. And the two sets of rings--perfectly imperfect in their not exactly centered placement on the not quite a perfect circle board--turn the whole thing into something of a target; I believe served as guides for cutting dough, pie crusts, etc. Lathe turned, mid 19th century, and I know from the dealer found at an estate in Northwest Connecticut. I'll be very glad to keep this one for myself--a wonderful board to serve cheese or other treats on, and to look at the rest of the time.
9 5/8" in diameter x 1/2" thick and in very good, much used and loved condition. Lies completely flat, surface very smooth, many many years ahead of it.
