I found this big old bentwood grain measure filled with the large lot of geometric solids listed separately today. It definitely makes a good storage container for them, with room to spare for some more beautiful old wooden blocks (and there is something very satisfying and also luxurious feeling to see this big old wooden vessel measure filled with them), but I thought maybe a good thing to let that be a choice, and so here it is on own. Very sturdy, heavy lapped band around the top, lovely line of nail bleeds visible on the interior (and an old crayon drawn square on the interior, too--perhaps done by the owner of the geometric solids.) Stamped C.A. Wilkins, Henniker NH on the underside, I believe dating it to the late 19th century or so.
15" in diameter x 7 3/4" t. One patch of surface loss to the underside, as documented, with a nail underneath--doesn't seem to effect sturdiness at all; was holding 10 pounds or so of blocks when I found it just fine.
