From the same Rockport, MA collection as the painted tintype I just listed (and the other photos I've listed today too), a smiling photo statuette of a pretty young woman, c. 1950s I believe. I find the effect of transforming a photograph into a statuette such a curious thing--like a doll, to be moved around, ready to be dropped into different scenarios--which in this case seems precisely right, as one imagines this young woman's future had yet to be determined. For me, the stripping of context statuette-ing also lends a certain sense of vulnerability and exposed-ness--one wants her to land in the right place!
10" t x 5 7/8" w (base) x 1 15/16" d. Good condition, with general aging to the photo and a few small surface scratches.
