The New York Ledger, 19th Century Advertising Ruler

Regular price $40.00

Great lettering on this later 19th c. New York Ledger advertising ruler, and a nice piece of NYC history.  Plus I always love a ruler, and think they are quite a nice thing to collect, and ever handy too. The New York Ledger was a weekly paper published in Manhattan, 1855-1898. It was established by Robert E. Bonnerby, by transforming the weekly financial journal called The Merchant's Ledger that he had purchased in 1851. The date of last issue was 1898, when it was changed to The Ledger Monthly, which disappeared by 1903. With excellent advertising pitch language on reverse too..."The great medium for reaching the homes of the most intelligent and well-to-do people in every county in North America."

15" x 1 1/2" and in good condition, with a small dip in the brass edge at about the 5 1/2" mark.
