I’m quite taken with this little pewter bird dish—handmade by T.W. Pewter Co c.1980s-1990s, I believe, and technically a tea bag holder, but equally handy for earrings, spare change or whatever. With its big starry bright eye and perky tail feathers, I can almost hear it chirping!
The dish is stamped "T.W. Pewter" on the bottom and in great condition. T.W. (Tin Woodsman) Pewter Co, was founded in 1985 in Western Oregon by a husband and wife team with strong interests in craft and American craft traditions, but no metal-smithing background--so they taught themselves. (Deborah holds a Master's Degree in French Literature from The University of Oregon and Jim is a graduate of Notre Dame University's Great Books Program.) In 2011, they renamed their small company Crosby & Taylor in honor of Cape Cod ship captain relatives, Captains Crosby and Captain Taylor.
The dish measures 3 1/8" x 4" across and 1/2" tall.
