Scarce Old Tin Alligator Mold

Good creatures crop up in so many different forms, and I just couldn't resist the sweet alligator on this old tin mold, made for chocolate I think, though I'm picturing a sort of madeleine with the silhouette of a 'gator on top! A a very Izod-esque sort of alligator too, like an icon for the prep! 

4 15/16" l x 2 7/8" w x 5/8" d and in very good condition, early  20th c. I believe.
