I've had a few theorem painted boxes of this sort now, c. 1880s, and will keep scooping them up when I can as I think they're lovely and make for a special means of delivering a little token of love or friendship. The corners of the lower half had split on this one, which I took the liberty of mending with transparent archival tape, shoring it up for many more years of life. With pretty silver paper on the exterior, and a pink lining to the interior of the box.
5 1/8" x 2 3/4" x 1 1/16". Lower corners mended as noted and general wear, but now structurally sound and fairly sturdy.
