Old Leather Make Do Fly Swatter with Wooden Handle and Wonderful Patina

A very beautiful thing, purchased from one of my favorite dealers in New Hampshire, who has been a source of many treasures--this is a homemade fly swatter, with gorgeous leather swat, and perhaps even more gorgeous (and gorgeously worn) carved wood handle. The leather was slotted between a slit carved into the handle, then secured with a couple of iron nails, which look to have been supplemented by a couple more at some point. Perfect patina all over, the leather soft and rich and the handle smooth from much handling--a total joy to hold, and to swat with! 

13" l x 5 3/4" w x 1/2" d and in very good condition. Minor dryness/cracking along the very top edge of the leather, no matter. Sturdy and sound.
