I found a forget-me-not/token of love/friendship along the lines of this one earlier this year, and have kept a keen eye since as I think they're very charming--and not easy to find! Happily, at an estate sale this past weekend I snatched up a handful, which very well might all of have been made by the same person, most likely a young woman, 150+ years ago or so. Gold foil and paper flowers arranged carefully under glass, with reverse painting in red around the perimeter of the glass, lending a fire-y drama to the sentiment. I love how formally akin these feels to antique reliquaries, but all the better to be tokens of affection for the (once) living.
4 1/2" x 3 1/2" and in very good condition. With pink papered reverse with clipping from from an antique speller over top--featuring "fate" first.
