I found another of these 19th c Sunderland lustreware/ transferware plaques not long ago (that one reading Thou God Seest Me) and went back to my source this week to scoop up one more. I'd never before seen one bearing this phrase, and the combination of its content with the somewhat ghostly feeling appearance (as if in the process of deteriorating to ultimately disappear forever) of the transfer lettering seemed just right. The phrase comes from the Old Testament, Job 14:10 as clearly speaks to the end of earthly life--to me a reminder to appreciate this life while we have it!
