I like this old carved panel just for the looks of it, but also for being a sampler of sorts, akin to a sewing sampler, in this case I believe for practicing the carving of decorative ornament or trim. And, like an needlepoint sampler, this one is satisfying both for the individual elements and the overall composition, patterns fit into a larger geometric order. With some more on the back, too.
12" x 10. Carved of pine I believe, with a nice warm dry patina. Wired for hanging.
