I always have an eye out for hand-drawn maps, but it is a rare and happy moment to find one with watercolor embellishment, and what a charmer, with lovely blue and purple star, excellent inked handwriting, and little hand pointing to a pine stump, too! (And a White Oak marking another corner.) As detailed at one end, it's a surveyors map, done by surveyor William A. Jones for Andrew J. Waller in 1878, showing a 31 acre plot on the south side of South West Creek in Lenoir County, North Carolina. Wonderfully done.
12 9/16" x 8 1/16" and in good condition, ink and watercolor on lined paper, with fold lines as evident but it will lie flat.
