I'm pretty certain this old spear-like carving had no other purpose that giving pleasure to its maker, who I'd guess had a pretty good time chipping away at it to create a sequence of geometrical forms, a little different on every side, all from one piece of wood, which I believe is pine. At just shy of 20 inches long I'd probably hang it on the wall, resting on a few nails, such that it could easily be taken down on occasion to twirl around like a baton!
19 5/8" l x 13/16" wide and deep. Nice old dry wood patina, and in very good condition.
