Certainly one can never have too many books, and thus, I think, one can never have too many bookends! This fabulous pair of male and female nudes may be just about my favorites ever. I believe they are made of a combination of plaster and cement, and are signed Scher 1993 on the front of each and numbered on the back with what looks like "h43." I have found a couple of others pairs out there but have not been able to figure out who the Scher is. I especially love that they show a bit of swagger, his rear cocked a bit to the the left, and hers to the right, making them pretty great displayed side by side just as sculptures if not at either end of a row of books.
"Hers" measures 4" wide x 2 1/2" deep x 5 3/4" tall. "His" 4 1/16" wide x 2 1/2" deep x 6 1/2" tall. She's got a large chip on one side--not visible if positioning her at the left end of a shelf or cheeks forward!
These are heavy, weighing in at a little over 3 pounds each!
