These, like the charcoal portrait also listed, combine photographic portraits with hand-done (painted) enhancements--there are lots of examples of these out there, but this couple struck me as especially striking. It is in part the black black of the black ink and its bleeding along the bottom edge that does it for me, and then also the very fine detailing of his reddish beard and hair, and her black hair (and blue eyes, too)--every strand of hair crisply rendered. I also really love how her nose and chin almost disappear--heightening the sense of photographic representation retreating and hand-painting coming to the fore.
Paper size approx 8" x 10". Portraits themselves: 8 3/4" x 5 3/4". Good condition with some loss to the top edge of backing paper on his portrait. Stains and bleeds all to the good in my opinion.
