Gorgeous. I love antique wooden carriers like this as a form, but usually let them go--but the old salmon colored paint on this one, and especially the "make do" handle, make it especially special, and beautiful, so I was sold in one second flat. The handle is a separate piece of wood, like a basket handle (and may indeed once have belonged to a basket), notched and carved so as to just extend one side, with fat nails securing it. Perfectly fitted, and wonderful from both sides. Love.
12 1/2" x 8" x 5 1/2" t and in very good, sturdy and sound antique condition, 19th c, with fantastic variation to the depth of color.
