I found this one at my favorite treasure trove New Hampshire--a family owned source of interesting things from across time and around the world, feeling like a cabinet of curiosities. I don't know anything about this plaster head's subject or maker, but it, and the hairstyle especially, feels very WPA era to me. (I really love those sculptural waves of hair running down the sides of the face.) With an androgynous quality to the face but quite distinctive features, and a rich surface that shows age, crustiness, and a little soiling here and there, all to the good I think.
11" t x 6 3/4" w x 5" d. Stable and sound condition, with no chips or cracks, just surface age and wear. I find it near impossible to photograph white objects--first photo gives a pretty good sense of color and the rest at least a sense of detail from various perspectives. Does not stand on its own though can be leaned against something, or (with a little effort to make sure stable) hung on the wall.
