I don't know much about this huge decorative stoneware plate, which is the larger of two I purchased at a nearby consignment store, but I think it is fabulous. The hand-painted design--really a drawing on clay--reminds me of a map with shape-shifting land masses, and I think the polka dot and striped patterns, rendered in purple, peach, and charcoal, are pretty terrific too,
The platter measures 15" in diameter and 1 1/4" tall, and is signed Monk on the back. It is in good vintage condition, no chips or cracks, with just a few small dark spots on the front, which may be original to the making. There is a hook on the back for hanging, which is what I would do with it!
