SOLD From an Affectionate Father, Early 19th Century Staffordshire Child's Plate

Regular price $160.00

My favorite, and the most precious, early British transferware child's cups and dishes are ones incorporating this style of text--and they to me also bear a strong kinship to late 18th c. Bilston and Battersea enamel trinket boxes. This is a scarce one--including for speaking of the affections of a father (so many more about mothers!)--and what excellent faces on the "little men" pictured with hoop and on teeter totter! A perfect gift from a father to a son or daughter with a love for early English transferware I'd say, or to a young one to keep and hand-down across generations.

6 1/4" in diameter and in very very good condition. One tiny glaze chip around the rim, as detailed.
