I find these old inlaid wood darning eggs so pretty, and such satisfying things roll around in one's hand, that I have a hard time resisting them when I find them. And I like that the inlay pattern on this one is not exactly regular or predictable--perfectly imperfect. Just nice set on the shelf, maybe in a little egg cup or old wooden goblet, or on the desk to toss around while thinking--or a nice thing to start collecting and fill a big bowl with!
Photographing it under magnification I realized it is marked Czechoslovakia on one side near the tip. I believe 1920s or so. 2 1/2" l x 1 1/2" in diameter. Very good condition, with some small scrapes and tiny dings and little darkening here and there.
