Early Door with Six Panes and View of Winter Trees, Very Painterly Antique RPPC

Regular price $30.00

Such a painterly photograph, I'm obsessed with it. A bit underexposed, the photo itself feels soft and dreamy, which makes the door--threshold--feel ethereal, and so all the more metaphorical of passage from one place, or one world, to another. And then formal qualities of this very old door itself--a wonderful overall play of geometries, and with the photograph also capturing with clarity each knob in the wood, each nail on the horizontal braces running to pegged hinges, and each bit of wood framing out those six windows. With winter branches visible through the grid of panes--the perfect, poetic interruption to linear order. I could look at this all day, and tomorrow too.

 5 1/2" x 3 7/16" and in good condition, unused postcard back.
