I'm happy when I find things accompanied by some specific information about them (how rare!); in the case of this Sanskrit manuscript page, a label on the mat I found with it dates it to around 1700, and identifies it as a leaf from a Brahmin's horoscope. Nice to know, at least abstractly, what is being charted here--and that glorious orange and yellow suggests lots of fire:)--but to this Western eye, uneducated in reading Sanskrit, it's a formally beautiful and satisfying thing to look at, all the more so to have travelled 300+ years and across the globe.
10 7/8" x 8 5/16. Double sided (similar but different; first two photos show the two sides). Very good condition, color very lush and black ink strong; paper not brittle; just small losses to bottom corners.
