Another As Found: Antique Key on Much Worn Hand-carved Fob

Another resonant feeling thing, just as found--a key to who knows what, and who knows where, but which at some point was central to the life of someone, who carved a series of letters and numbers (looks like RUR 1861 to me) into what may have then been, but certainly went on to be,  very much handled piece of wood, with some string wrapped around the end at some point long ago to keep a split from encroaching. Seems the 1861 could very well be the year--that wood, and lettering, is OLD! To my eye quite a beautiful and tender thing.

Fob measures 4 1/4" x 15/16". Beautifully aged and worn.
