19th C. Blue-Gray Painted Pine Chest with Square Iron Nails, As Found

Regular price $100.00

This one is old. And with a really sweet and special feeling about it, too. I imagine there were once two small, short drawers that fit into the niches at top--long gone, but one doesn't really miss them. I'm not sure the story with the paint across the front of the two existing drawers, but it is definitely old too--I think of the same period as the gray, which is original to it; perhaps the maker was considering a more decorative treatment but decided to leave it alone. (And so, perhaps, those upper drawers were in fact never completed?) Who knows?  But here is it. Made of pine I believe, with hand-forged square nails holding it together.

6 1/2 t x 6 1/8 w x 5 1/2 d and in good, as found condition. Sturdy and sound and with a very honest and warm feel to it.
