Another week another 19th c. child's cup, this one with pink lustre around the rim and detailing the handle, c. 1830s or so I believe, What makes it for me of course is this hand-painted bird on green leafy branch, and particularly that the orange body of the bird appears to have been made of a fingerprint. Something about fingerprints captured from one particular person at one particular moment that have time travelled--in this case nearly two centuries I believe--really does it for me, feeling like a person to person intimacy across time and space.
2 1/8” t x 2” d x 3” across at handle. Very good condition, bright and crisp with just a few tiny fleabites around the rim.
